A small corner of the internet

Welcome to lab242.

Wireless by day, bees and campfires by weekend, a little bit of Japanese in between. This site is where I collect notes from all of it.

About

I grew up around radios and curiosity and never quite got rid of either. These days I spend my weekdays designing the invisible infrastructure that keeps phones working in places where they really, really shouldn't — and my weekends on things that move much slower: bees, campfires, kanji flashcards.

I started out writing code, studied a bit of AI, and although I stepped away from both as a career, they still quietly show up in everything I do.

Work

Wireless telecommunications, with a focus on indoor DAS in large venues — the kind of places where tens of thousands of people pull out their phones at the same time and expect it to just work.

Indoor DAS design

RF planning, head-end to remote, commissioning, and the long patient work of making coverage actually hold up under real crowds.

Large venue deployments

From planning drawings to a live network, with every cable and calibration in between.

Background in code & AI

Former programmer; a few years of AI study. I don't write production software anymore, but I still think like someone who does.

Bees 🐝

Three hives in the backyard. Honey comes out twice a year, and so does a humbling amount of perspective.

Beekeeping is the slowest hobby I have and probably the most rewarding. A colony teaches patience without ever raising its voice. I'll post harvest notes and a few pictures here as the seasons roll through.

Camping ⛺

The antidote to the RF world. Off-grid, no signal bars, exactly the point.

There's more good camping out there than one lifetime can cover, but I'm working on it. Trip notes and favorite spots will land here over time.

Japan & Japanese 🇯🇵

Traveling to Japan more and more, and studying the language weekly. Still very much a beginner.

This section will grow into travel notes, study progress, and whatever phrase I'm currently struggling to remember.

はじめまして。 Hajimemashite. — Nice to meet you.
